Job Scope

The Mid-level Backend Developer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing backend systems supporting F&B ordering, promotions, membership, and online payment services. The role manages backend features, system integrations, production issue resolution, and system stability, primarily using C#/.NET and Microsoft SQL Server.

As the company transitions toward Java and MySQL, the role will also support system modernization by understanding existing business logic, contributing to new service development, and progressively adopting the new technology stack. The position works closely with internal teams and external vendors to deliver reliable, scalable, and maintainable backend solutions, with strong ownership of assigned modules and technical issues.

Key Tasks

1. Backend Development & Feature Delivery

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain backend APIs and business logic for online ordering, membership, promotions, payments, transactions, and third-party integrations.
• Translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable technical solutions.
• Analyze existing code and business logic before implementing changes.
• Take ownership of assigned modules and features through production deployment.
• Participate in technical discussions and provide solution recommendations.

2. System Maintenance & Production Support

• Investigate and resolve production issues across applications, databases, integrations, and infrastructure.
• Analyze logs, database records, APIs, and system metrics to identify root causes.
• Monitor system performance and address recurring reliability or performance issues.
• Support incident investigation and recommend long-term improvements to system stability and maintainability.

3. Database Development

• Develop and maintain database structures, SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and scripts using Microsoft SQL Server.
• Optimize database and query performance, including indexing, transactions, locking, and concurrency.
• Investigate database-related issues and support database design and migration activities.

4. Technology Migration

• Support the migration from C#/.NET and Microsoft SQL Server to Java/Spring Boot and MySQL.
• Analyze existing systems and business logic before migrating functionality.
• Develop new backend components using the target technology stack.
• Identify migration risks, dependencies, and compatibility requirements between legacy and new systems.
• Maintain technical documentation and support knowledge sharing throughout the transition.

5. Code Quality & Engineering Practices

• Write clean, maintainable, testable, and production-ready code following OOP, SOLID, and relevant engineering practices.
• Participate in code reviews, refactoring, and technical debt improvements.
• Ensure appropriate unit and integration testing for critical functions.
• Follow Git/GitHub development and pull request workflows.

6. Collaboration & Delivery

• Collaborate with BA, QA, Frontend, DevOps, and other stakeholders on requirements and technical solutions.
• Break down requirements, estimate development effort, and communicate risks or blockers proactively.
• Manage work and documentation through Jira and Confluence.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, including Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Code Reviews, and Retrospectives.

Job Requirements

Professional Experience

• 3+ years of backend development experience or equivalent practical experience.
• Hands-on experience developing and maintaining production backend applications.
• Experience with relational databases and troubleshooting production issues.

Knowledge / Skills

• Strong proficiency in C#/.NET; experience with Java/Spring Boot is a strong advantage.
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, HTTP/HTTPS, authentication/authorization, API integration, background processing, logging, monitoring, concurrency, and performance optimization.
• Strong SQL skills and knowledge of relational databases, including indexing, query optimization, transactions, locking, data integrity, and database design.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server; MySQL knowledge is an advantage.
• Solid understanding of OOP, SOLID principles, design patterns, clean code, dependency injection, unit testing, debugging, Git workflows, and code review practices.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Java/Spring Boot, MySQL, Windows/background services, or distributed systems.
• Experience with payment gateways, third-party APIs, or e-commerce/F&B/POS/ordering/loyalty/promotion systems.
• Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD, cloud platforms (GCP/AWS/Azure), RabbitMQ/Kafka, and monitoring/observability tools.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum/Scrumban environments.
