Job Description

Job Scope

We are looking for a BI Engineer to own and operate our Power BI reporting and semantic layer, ensuring reliable data delivery, fast issue resolution, and scalable analytics for business users across multiple markets (Vietnam, Hong Kong, Taiwan).

Job Responsibilities

Power BI Platform Ownership & Support:

  • Own day-to-day operations of the Power BI environment, including:

+ Datasets, semantic models, refresh schedules, and workspace structure, official reports

+ Access control and user troubleshooting (Viewer/Contributor/SSAS permissions, etc.)

  • Act as first or second-line support for Power BI–related incidents:

+ Data mismatch, refresh failures, performance issues, missing data

+ Coordinate with Data Engineers when root cause is upstream

  • Proactively monitor dataset refresh health, capacity usage, and performance bottlenecks.

Reporting and Dataset Development:

  • Design, build, and maintain Power BI reports and datasets based on business requirements from various functions.
  • Develop and maintain: data models, DAX measures, calculation logics
  • Ensure reports are:

+ Performant at scale (large datasets, multi-market)

+ Easy to use and well-documented for business users

Data Pipeline Collaboration:

  • Collaborate closely with Data Engineers on pipelines feeding Power BI

+ BigQuery/ Azure Data Factory/ SQL procedures transformation logic

+ Incremental loads, SCD logic, aggregation tables

  • Maintain consistency between

+ Data medallion layers

+ Semantic models

+ Power BI datasets and reports

  • SSRS Maintenance
  • Support partitioning, incremental refresh strategies, and historical backfills when needed
  • Participate in pipeline debugging during incidents (Airflow / ADF context)
  • Suggest modeling or pipeline adjustments to improve report performance or data availability SLAs

Incident Management & Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in incident triage

+ Identify whether issues are data, model, or visualization related

+ Provide clear root cause analysis and remediation steps

  • Help define and improve

+ Help define and improve

+ Naming conventions, dataset standards, and documentation

+ Contribute to CAB / change management processes where BI impact is involved

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Business Analytics or a related field.

Experience:

  • 1-3 years proven experience as a Data Analyst or similar role, preferably in the Retails, F&B or FMCG industry.
  • Familiarity with database management systems, data manipulation, and data cleaning techniques.
  • Familiarity with below Tech Stacks:
    • Python
    • PowerBI
    • SQL/ Non-SQL
    • Data science stack – Pandas, Numpy, visualization packages, SciPy, Scikit Learn, Tensorflow, etc.
    • Version control with git
    • Google Cloud Platform

Knowledge/ Skills:

  • Understanding of statistics, probability, and data analysis techniques that are foundational to interpreting data sets
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically
  • Excellent communication & presentation skill
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder-management capabilities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively using Scrum methodology.
  • Good command of English
  • Cantonese & Mandarin capability is a plus
